OK...so the Bedwetting Brigade has evidently received their marching orders. To take all eyes off of our applesauce-for-brains President, they are introducing the scary specter of PROJECT 2025. It even SOUNDS like a dystopian movie! Quick! Find the most angsty-looking male teen heartthrob and let’s get this baby on celluloid!
It has been fascinating to watch this sausage being made in real time. Yes, I think the President's dismal debate performance has sped up the rollout. I think this was supposed to be a liberal red meat rally issue in the late-summer portion of the Presidential campaign, but circumstances have forced the Bedwetters to engage a bit earlier and a bit more forcefully.
In recent weeks, President Biden campaign’s website has added an entire page to highlight the evils of Project 2025’s goals. A quick Google search shows hits up exponentially in early June, while slowly moving from the realm of Reddit and bloggers to national brands with paywall-protected content.
Kids, there are these things called "think tanks" in America. They exist all across the political spectrum. Their duties are to draw up policy ideas and ideals and provide research and infrastructure for politicians who are prepared to adopt their policy proposals. It's basically a step above political lobbying.
I have terrible news for you. EVERY think tank has these proposal. Even the ones you like. And I guarantee you, a conservative reading over a liberal think-tank's policy platform would be just as repulsed as you are reading this one from the Heritage Foundation, et. al.
Just as the Green New Deal is the pie-in-the-sky unattainable wet dream of every denizen of the far left, Project 2025 is masturbation material for those who dream of a smaller and less-intrusive government. Even though I am a member of the latter group (but choose other avenues for physical release) I am under no illusion that Project 2025 is going to be cut-and-pasted into the GOP platform during their convention. That is not how these things work.
The only thing remarkable about Project 2025 is that the Heritage Foundation, (the lead agency in drawing up the policy proposals) apparently got material support from other right-of-center think tanks. This, also, is not exactly unprecedented. It is also fair to note that it was released nearly a year ago.
Never mind that Trump has point-blank disavowed Project 2025. Remember one thing, Trump is NOT a conservative. He is Trump. Yes, the Heritage Foundation evidently had his ear when it came to judicial appointments. But their opposition to trade tariffs most certainly has not had an impact on Trump’s economic and trade policies.
Project 2025 is now angling to replace Kony 2012 in the annals of social media-fueled political hysteria. And we can't get a crisis go to waste, can we? Even if it is a crisis created specifically for just such a purpose.
